From the HCI Korea 2021 conference (27–29 January 2021, Daemyung Vivaldi Park), the Creative Award represents all the programmes demonstrating and exhibiting creative works within the conference. It comprises the Interactive Art Gallery, which exhibits novel and outstanding technical works applying HCI technology along with creative demonstrations, media art and other strongly art-oriented works; the Business Showcase, which exhibits creative products and services developed by companies, universities and institutions; and the Capstone Project, which invites and exhibits works with a strong implementation or development component, such as creative app ideas and capstone planning. http://conference.hcikorea.org//hcik2021/creative/interactive.asp http://conference.hcikorea.org//hcik2021/creative/business.asp http://conference.hcikorea.org//hcik2021/creative/capstone.asp
Anyone may apply for the Creative Award, and those selected through preliminary review for each programme are given the opportunity to exhibit during the HCI Korea 2021 conference. Through a final review by internal and external judges for each programme, one Grand Prize team, two Top Excellence teams and three Excellence teams are selected across all programmes (Interactive Art Gallery / Business Showcase / Capstone Project), and winning teams receive prize money and certificates.
Because on-site exhibition and demonstration were expected to be difficult owing to COVID-19, the Creative Award works at HCI Korea 2021 were presented through an online exhibition. The team of fourth-year Department of Computer Science & Engineering students Heo Nam-gyu, Lee Se-jin, Kim Hye-in and Hwang Ji-young, with Professor Koo Myoung-wan as supervisor, was selected for the Grand Prize of the HCI 2021 Creative Award for the paper 'A Page-Level Korean Handwriting Recognition Service Using the OrigamiNet Model'.
