Samsung Electronics said the promotions were made to overcome uncertainty in the global business environment and to build a foundation for continued future growth, explaining that promoting a large number of people in software and emerging technology was intended to broaden the leadership base for growth and strengthen future growth engines.

I entered the Department of Computer Science in 1994 and then joined the Multimedia Systems Laboratory, taking my master's course in 1998 and my doctoral course in 2000. I finally received my doctorate and graduated in the summer of 2004.

I have worked at Samsung Electronics since July 2004; I joined the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology and am now with Samsung Research. I have mostly taken part in projects researching convergence technology, IoT technology and connectivity technology, and I am currently developing communications software for 5G and 6G and connectivity software for interworking between devices. One notable episode during my career is that I served for around two years as lead architect of the global open source project IoTivity.

I was promoted to Vice President in December 2018 and to Executive Vice President in December 2023.
