The paper 'A Method for Semantic Expansion and Generation of Stable Diffusion User Prompts Using a Thesaurus and TTA' by Lee Jung, graduate student of the Multimedia Systems Laboratory in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (supervisor: Nang Jong-ho), received the Outstanding Presentation Paper Award in the artificial intelligence field at the Korea Software Congress 2023 (KSC 2023), held over three days from 20 to 22 December.

Current research on image generation models focuses mostly on generating images, so users find it difficult to write prompts with the right vocabulary to obtain the results they want. To improve the usability of generative models, this paper presents a methodology that uses a thesaurus and TTA to expand a user's input prompt into a variety of semantically related augmented prompts and then reflects the user's feedback. Qualitative evaluation confirmed that the method generates a variety of images different from those generated by the user's initial input prompt, and quantitative evaluation confirmed that the generated prompts are semantically related to the user's initial input prompt.

The Korea Software Congress 2023 (KSC 2023) is an information science and technology conference at which the latest research results across all fields of information technology — artificial intelligence, computer systems, databases and more — are presented.
