LINE Plus (CEO Shin Jung-ho), a Naver subsidiary, held the final round of the 'LINE and Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers Blockchain Competition' at Phoenix Park in Pyeongchang on 21 December.

At the competition, a team including Park Sang-hyun of Sogang University's Department of Computer Science & Engineering received an Encouragement Award.

Co-hosted by LINE and the Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers as part of the Korea Software Congress 2018, the event was a competition in ideas and implementation ability for decentralized applications (dApps) that can run on LINK Chain, LINE's blockchain mainnet. Of some 30 teams that entered, 10 were selected through document screening to take part in the final round. Finalist teams were given the same development environment as LINK Chain, and the dApps they built were scored through two rounds of assessment — a demonstration assessment and a presentation assessment.
