The first Professor Emeritus Chang Jik-hyun Scholarship presentation ceremony was held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday 30 August.
A number of faculty members of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, including Department Chair Kim Seung-wook, attended to congratulate the students, and Professor Emeritus Chang Jik-hyun attended in person to present the scholarships and offer encouragement, making for a meaningful occasion.
Three students received the scholarship: Kwon Hyung-jun (class of '16), Lim Jung-ho (class of '17) and Kang Jin-sil (class of '18).
The purpose of the Professor Emeritus Chang Jik-hyun Scholarship is to honour the affection for undergraduates of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering shown by Professor Emeritus Chang Jik-hyun, who retired from Sogang University, and to encourage students' enthusiasm for their major coursework.
Students with Computer Science & Engineering as a first major who have completed at least five semesters and achieved an average of 3.5 or above in the major courses taken in a semester (at least four courses) may apply; those selected receive half of one semester's tuition.
Beginning with the first semester of 2021, the scholarship will select and award recipients every semester.
