Oh Deok-geun, a doctoral student in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (supervisor: Professor Kim Joo-ho), received the Best Paper Award in electronic design automation at the 2018 International Conference on Computer Design (ICCD), held in the United States on 8 October.

The International Conference on Computer Design (ICCD), hosted by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), is a world-class conference in computer design covering computer architecture, verification and test, design tools and methodologies, and circuit design and technology.

The paper, titled 'Thermal-aware 3D Symmetrical Buffered Clock Tree Synthesis', proposes a clock tree synthesis methodology that takes heat into account in three-dimensional circuits, as an efficient way of addressing the thermal problems that arise in such circuits and degrade their performance.
