Dr Jung Kang-su, a graduate of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Sogang University, was appointed as a professor at the Université de Strasbourg in France with effect from June 2026 and has joined the MLMS (Machine Learning, Modélisation et Simulation) research team.
Dr Jung Kang-su received his doctorate from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Sogang University in 2017 under the supervision of Professor Park Seok. He subsequently worked at Inria Paris-Saclay as a postdoctoral researcher and research engineer, carrying out research centred on privacy, fairness, explainable AI and federated learning in artificial intelligence.
At the University of Strasbourg, Dr Jung will focus on developing trustworthy artificial intelligence applicable to medicine and the public sector, in collaboration with researchers in artificial intelligence and medicine. He is also expected to expand international joint research between French and Korean research institutions and to produce substantive results in convergent fields such as medical AI and privacy-preserving learning.
Dr Jung Kang-su said: "In this new research environment I want to work with researchers from a variety of fields and study artificial intelligence that society can trust and that genuinely helps in the field," adding, "I hope I can also contribute to expanding academic exchange and joint research between researchers in Europe and Korea, and with Sogang University in particular."
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Sogang University sincerely congratulates Dr Jung Kang-su on his appointment as a professor at the University of Strasbourg and wishes him even greater achievements in international research and teaching.
