Professor Nang Jong-ho of the University's Department of Computer Science & Engineering received the Paper Contribution Award (Gold grade) at the 2020 Korea Computer Congress (KCC2020), held online from Thursday 2 to Saturday 4 July 2020.

The Paper Contribution Award was established in 2008 to honour the achievements of members who have contributed to the development of information science and to the vitality of the society's journals by publishing numerous papers in the journals of the Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers, Korea's leading society in computing. It is awarded at Diamond (100 or more papers), Gold (50 or more) and Silver (20 or more) grades according to the number of papers published since the journals' first issue.

Up to 2019, four members had received Diamond, 21 Gold and 129 Silver; this year seven were selected — three Gold and four Silver. The Gold recipients are Professor Kim Jong-kwon of Seoul National University, Professor Nang Jong-ho of Sogang University and Professor Eom Young-ik of Sungkyunkwan University.

At the University, Professor Park Seog of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering received a Gold-grade contribution award in 2015; this is the second such award for a member of the department's faculty.
