EDUCATION
Department of Artificial Intelligence
Teaching machines to see, to hear,
and to understand
Artificial intelligence studies how human learning, reasoning and perception can be realised on a machine.
Sogang University opened its graduate programme in artificial intelligence in 2022 and its undergraduate programme in 2023,
establishing a research-centred path that carries students from the bachelor’s degree into graduate study without a break.
The curriculum covers the core of the field in depth: machine learning, visual, auditory and language intelligence, and the AI systems that make them possible.
- Understand the theory behind artificial intelligence.
Work from the foundations of mathematics, statistics and optimisation so that you can explain not only what a model does but why it does it.
- Turn an idea into a system that runs.
Translate papers and concepts into code, and acquire the systems skills — GPU optimisation, parallel training — that make artificial intelligence work in practice.
- Apply artificial intelligence across disciplines.
Find where artificial intelligence belongs through multiple majors and industry collaboration, and redefine a domain’s problems in its terms.
- Move to the frontier of the field.
Extend the undergraduate curriculum into graduate-linked courses, laying the groundwork for advanced research from the bachelor’s degree through to the doctorate.
